After considering the potential options available. I’ve decided to close down the Freecycle interface to the public and revert it to private use only.
This website was created in the free time I had after I left my previous job and I had hoped to create something of lasting value for the public good. However, I clearly hadn’t anticipated all of the issues that arise from creating this site.
While I think it might be possible to address the various concerns raised by some Freecycle members, I currently don’t have the time to implement the various changes necessary.
Perhaps sometime in the future, the site can be restarted with the co-operation of FreeCycle members, but until then, users can use email or the yahoo web archives.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused to members of this site and Freecycle members.

While I and others nd this site useful (it was set up to enable use of FreeCycle through the web), we will respect the wishes of the FreeCycle users and update the site in due course.
